Revival Generation Jesus already gave us the Great Comission --- it's about time we start doing something about it!
If you are a teenager today, unless you are totally blind, you will notice everyone around you is hurting. They need God! It may not seem like it, but the need is there. I home school for the most part, but I go to the high school in town for a few classes here and there for things like Art, Computers, and other things you can't get at home. I stay at the school for the next quarter of the day (until lunch). In that time I go to the Cafeteria. There I see the Need. Hurting people. Some SEEM happy, they joke around all the time, ect... But underneath they hurt. Councelors come down to the Cafe and talk to the students. When ever they do, the conversation ALWAYS leads to how depressed they are. No matter how hard they try, they can't stay out of trouble. They talk of family troubles: their dad loses his job and puts additional stress on the family. Or the parents fight a lot, or they hate their siblings, ect, ect, ect...... Many of the people down there (in the Cafeteria) are heavily into drugs because they get rid of the troubles of the world for a while. They've often asked me if I wanted drugs too! These people, these poor devastated people, need the love of God in their lives BADLY!!! Unfortunately, not many of us are bold enough to go and tell those who need to hear. One story I heard: Somewhere in the States, in a high school just like you may go to sat a student. He was sick and tired of doing nothing. There he sat day after day after day, seeing his friends sink deeper and deeper into frustration and despair. Finally he said, "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!" He jumped up onto the table during the lunch break in the middle of the cafeteria and started preaching the Gospel Message! Within a few minutes, teachers and the principal of the school rushed over yanked him off the table and dragged him out of the cafeteria. Then, on the other side of the cafeteria, another student got up on a table and finished the Message! When he made an altar call, 27 STUDENTS accepted the Love Christ has for them! Many had NEVER EVEN HEARD THE MESSAGE before! Never heard it! We, as already-grounded Christians, seem to just assume everyone knows "the story". But they don't. They really don't! We need to stand up as Christians and do as Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all STUDENTS (nations),.........." Don't be afraid! I am a VERY timid person. It's taken WEEKS for me to have the courage to start the prayer group in my school. When God comissions you to do something, He'll give you the boldness! Don't be ashamed if you are shy. Even the great apostle Paul went to the Corinthians "with weakness, fear, and with much trembling"! Even Paul was afraid! Look at all Paul did! You make the venture, God will be there for you!!! A few months ago I attended Mission Fest 2000 in Vancouver. Perhaps you've gone to it somewhere. Great men and women of God came from from all over the globe to modivate the people who came. One group, called Canada Fire, (the 1st link at the bottom of the page) is a group of teens committed to destroying the grip Satan has on our generation. The are 3 students. 3 STUDENTS! Just 3 people, but they have made such a difference! Their goal is to have a STUDENT-LED PRAYER GROUP in every high school in Canada. Through prayer the world can be changed! On Wednesdays, a few students in my high school (including myself) are meeting for prayer. Just a few minutes once a week. That's all it has to be. THE BASIC PLAN 1. Start in a big group. Begin with a prayer of thanks to God ect... 2. Then split off into groups of three. 3. Each person has 3 friends to pray for - 3 who need God. So in each three-some, there are 9 people prayed for. 4. Once you're done praying in the little groups, meet back together as a large group, pray again, and dismiss. Don't go by the book all the time. Let the Holy Spirit work in your prayer time. Tell Him that you hand this time to Him, so that He can do what needs to be done in the lives of the people there, and in the lives of the people being prayed for. The whole thing takes only like 10 - 15 minutes. We're doing it at the start of the lunch break. This is an AWESOME way to fulfill your part of the Great Comission! Your school will be changed! |
